Oak City Serenaders is a Raleigh-based mandolin trio playing traditional dance music from Italy and the Americas. Much of their repertoire is drawn from the 19th-century ballo liscio tradition: ballroom dance music composed and arranged by immigrants from southern Italy to the United States. They also play their own arrangements of compositions by Italian-American virtuosi such as Frank Fazio, Giovanni Vicari, and Giovanni Gioviale, as well as a selection of folk melodies from Sicilian barbershops.
